2018-2022 Ford Mustang Active Exhaust Upgrade Kit Out Now

With the all-new, next-generation S650 Ford Mustang making its long-awaited debut this month, it’s easy to forget that the S550 version is still around and kicking. However, The Blue Oval continues to release performance parts for the current pony car to help owners extract more performance and style from their rides, including, most recently, a new Cobra Jet intake manifold for models equipped with the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. Now, the automaker continues to add to its bevy of S550 performance parts with this new Ford Mustang active exhaust upgrade kit.

The new Ford Mustang active exhaust upgrade kit is available via the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-5200-ACT1 and fits all 2018-2022 GT coupe and convertible models equipped with the 5.0L Coyote powerplant and active exhaust, as well as 2019 – 2020 Mustang Bullitt models with active exhaust.

Modeled after the more aggressive setup found on the S550 version of the Mach 1, the Ford Mustang active exhaust upgrade kit contains that model’s mufflers with quad exhaust tips, rear lower valance, rear diffuser, mud flaps, and all of the hardware required for installation.

The result of this upgrade is a more aggressive sound and enhanced performance, according to the automaker, and it seems like a nice OEM alternative to the many aftermarket exhaust upgrades already available. The kit maintains the active exhaust’s full functionality so owners can adjust the sound level appropriately, and it’s also 50-state legal since it meets the 95-decibel drive-by noise standard when combined with the stock exhaust setup.

This new active exhaust upgrade kit retails for $1,585 and is available to purchase now through the Ford Performance catalog, or by placing an order with one’s local dealership.
