The Ford Authority Take
As Ford Authority reported yesterday, Ford also filed logo trademarks for a number of entities in the U.S., and now, it has done the exact same thing in Europe, albeit in lesser quantities. In this case, Ford has filed trademarks for the Lincoln logo, the Ford Bronco horse logo, the Ford Mustang horse logo, and its own Blue Oval. NFTs are cryptographic assets on a blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other. The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain, and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded.
Roughly one year ago, Alexandra Ford English, FoMoco’s global brand merchandising director, revealed that the automaker was exploring this type of digital product. “Anywhere you go around the world, you find passionate Ford fans and we want to offer them an inspiring collection of merchandise and accessories, and potentially even digital products like NFTs,” Ford English said. “I’m so excited for this opportunity to create new ways for people to connect with our brand and grow the business.”
With NFTs proving to be a hot entity these days, this move isn’t terribly surprising, and gives fans yet another way to add to their Blue Oval collection of wares. However, trademark filings don’t always lead to actual products, so this remains only a possibility for now.
We’ll have more on this and all of Ford’s trademark filings soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford trademark news, Ford business news, and ongoing Ford news coverage.
