The 2023 Ford Super Duty made its debut just a few weeks ago, and the upcoming lineup will introduce plenty of new tech and handy features to the F-Series line when it arrives at dealers next year. Since the unveiling, Ford Authority photographers have spotted variants of the heavy duty pickup that were not shown off at the reveal, such as a 2023 Ford F-600 XL chassis cab. Now, we’ve spied a 2023 Ford F-350 XL chassis cab out in public as well.
The standard engine option for the 2023 Ford F-350 chassis cab is the Ford 7.3L V8 Godzilla, so that’s what’s under the hood of this heavy duty pickup. Note that the object strapped down to the flatbed is likely a weight for testing purposes to determine how the pickup performs under heavy load. Otherwise, this chassis cab model looks like a regular XL truck for the most part, with a black grille, front bumper, and black side mirror caps to drive the point home that this is a no-frills work truck.
The 2023 Super Duty lineup features a frame that was strengthened in key areas in order to provide best-in-class towing, along with a fully redesigned cab for that brings it in line with the current generation F-150. It also sports a new enhanced tailgate step to make accessing the bed a bit easier without the need for an unsightly add-on jutting from beneath the pickup’s rear end. Additionally, the lineup now has the new 6.8L V8 gasoline engine, all-new for the forthcoming model year as standard equipment on most models, replacing the outgoing 6.2L V8.
Production of the 2023 Ford F-350, and other vehicles in the Super Duty line, will soon begin. Initial Job 1 2023 Ford Super Duty production will begin in early 2023 for the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims in all cab configurations, engines, and series, from the F-250 up to the F-600. Meanwhile, Job 2 2023 Super Duty production for King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims will follow in the spring of 2023. Order banks for the heavy duty pickup opened on October 27th.
We’ll keep an eye out for more examples of the 2023 Ford Super Duty out and about, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford Super Duty news, and comprehensive Ford news coverage.
