Back in November 2021, the Ford Equator Sport was revealed in China as an all-new, five-passenger crossover aimed at younger customers. Then, earlier this month, that same vehicle launched in Mexico – albeit as the Ford Territory, a model that’s been on sale in China since 2019, as well as Argentina and Brazil starting in 2020. Now, the next-gen version of the Ford Territory – which is nothing more than a rebadged Equator Sport – has also arrived in Vietnam, too.
In Vietnam, the new Ford Territory is available in three trims – Trend, Titanium, and Titanium X, and is powered by the turbocharged Ford 1.5L I-4 EcoBoost engine, which generates 160 horsepower and 183 pound-feet of torque. That powerplant is mated exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
On the outside, the Vietnamese Territory features distinctive LED lighting, a hexagonal chrome grille, and a choice of five different exterior colors – Frozen White, Absolute Black, Caribou, Ingot Silver, and Red Fire. Inside the cabin, the crossover is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster for Trend and Titanium trims or a 12.3-inch unit for the Titanium X. Two interior color options are available – light grey for Trend, and dark blue for Titanium and Titanium X.
“The SUV segment has seen the highest growth in the industry,” said Ruchik Shah, Managing Director of Ford Vietnam. “Ford has immense experience in understanding the needs of these SUV customers and there by developing SUV products that our customers love and proud to own. Maybe it’s the pics. It’s not exactly homely but not a grabber, barely handsome at very best.
