Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport models over a fuel injector issue.
The defect: in affected vehicles, a fuel injector may crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment.
The hazards: a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: fuel injectors.
Affected vehicles: select 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport models equipped with the turbocharged Ford 1.5L I-3 EcoBoost engine produced between February 5th, 2020, and October 17th, 2022.
Number of vehicles affected: 188,436
The fix: dealers will update the engine control software to include fuel injector leak detection and install a drain tube, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin December 19th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S73.

How does that 3 cylinder engine run in terms of smoothness?
Overall, not too bad! Has a little more vibration than a 4-cylinder, but certainly has good pickup.
I’m told I have a bad fuel injector. How does this tie in with the recall?
This particular dealership says they don’t have to part to fix the recall, (drain tube) but they tell me I have a bad fuel injector because they can’t seem to find what is wrong with it??
