The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R debuted back in July following years of anticipation, as well as more than a few requests that FoMoCo offer the high-performance off-road pickup with V8 power once again – something that it hadn’t done since the second-gen model debuted for the 2017 model year. Since then, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the very first 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R deliveries to begin, and now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that those units are currently on their way to dealers across the country.
These initial retail units of the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R will soon show up on dealer sites and inventory feeds as “in transit,” with the actual physical vehicles arriving shortly thereafter. This is obviously great news for the lucky few that will be able to purchase the muscular pickup, which comes equipped with a revised version of the supercharged Ford 5.2L V8 that’s also utilized in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which in this guise generates 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
On the outside, the Raptor R looks a lot like its V6-powered brethren, but does differ a bit thanks to some unique features such as a power dome hood that’s roughly one inch higher for better heat extraction, Code Orange accents including an “R” badge on the grille, power dome, and tailgate, and a special graphics package on the rear fenders.
In spite of its more powerful engine and standard 37-inch tires, the Raptor R doesn’t weight much more than the V6 model, and it isn’t terribly different in most other ways, either. However, it is far more expensive – roughly $26,000 more than the regular F-150 Raptor equipped with the 37 Performance Package, in fact. As one might expect, fuel economy suffers as a result of the addition of 250 more horsepower, though thus far, the Raptor R has received universally positive reviews from everyone that has driven it.
We’ll have more on the Raptor R soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-150 news, Ford F-150 Raptor news, and ongoing Ford news coverage.

Thank you for bringing back F-150 Raptor, in the future could you please not sell us what you think we should have or what you think the truck should do rather than sell us what we are requesting and demanding!
ford killed the raptor when they cancelled the 2 door version and went with the 4 door family mall crawler only.
Too bad the dealerships want to mark up the “R” by 25k+. For this reason I will not be buying one and will continue driving my generation 2 Raptor (until the markups stop). Dealerships are ruining it for people like myself.
Weird? Still never received my 37 truck I ordered December 2021. Guess Farley likes to pick and choose his customers and charge us higher prices.
