Since its launch, the Ford F-150 Lightning has racked up a number of prestigious awards and other forms of recognition, including a spot on Popular Science‘s Top 100 New Technologies list, the 2022 Wards Auto 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list, and as a finalist for 2023 North American Truck of the Year and Green Car Journal’s 2023 Green Truck of the Year awards. Now, the winners of the latter honors have been revealed, and the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro has taken home the 2023 Commercial Green Car of the Year award from Green Car Journal.
The Ford F-150 Lightning Pro beat out a host of other fleet-focused models to receive this honor – a group that includes the Brightdrop EV600, Ford E-Transit, Rivian Delivery Van, and Via Motors Chassis Cab. However, this doesn’t mean that the F-150 Lightning doesn’t still have a shot at 2023 Green Truck of the Year, as that particular award will be announced at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show on November 11th.
The Green Car Awards have been presented by Green Car Journal since its launch in 1992. The magazine – which focuses on sustainable driving, presented from an auto enthusiast perspective – has been honored with 13 International Automotive Media Awards and by Folio: Magazine, the ‘bible’ of the magazine industry, with an Eddie Award for Editorial Excellence and Best Automotive Full Issue. This year, the Toyota Crown hybrid sedan took home 2023 Green Car of the Year honors.
“The Green Car Awards recognize the crucial roles that infrastructure and technology play in enabling a more sustainable driving future,” said Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com.
