Logano’s No. 22 Nascar Ford Starting On Pole For 2022 Championship Race

Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Nascar Ford Mustang, will start his bid for his second Cup Series championship from the pole position when the green flag drops at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, November 6th.

Logano’s No. 22 Nascar Ford navigated the one-mile asphalt oval in 26.788 seconds at 134.389 mph, outdriving his teammate, Ryan Blaney in the No. 12 Mustang. Blaney will start second with a time of 26.791 seconds at 134.343 mph. Chase Briscoe’s No. 14 Mustang will start third beside Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 in fourth. Chase Elliott’s No. 9 Camaro will start fifth, the next-closest championship contender.

The other Playoffs championship contenders are starting quite a bit deeper in the pack. Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry will start 17th, while Ross Chastain’s No. 1 Camaro will have to charge all the way up from 25th. As a reminder, only the following four drivers are eligible for the 2022 Cup Series championship, and essentially, the driver that finishes ahead of the other three will secure the victory. Winning the race is not necessary to win the championship.

  • Joey Logano, No. 22 Ford Mustang
  • Chase Elliott, No. 9 Chevy Camaro ZL1
  • Christopher Bell, No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry
  • Ross Chastain, No. 1 Chevy Camaro ZL1

The green flag will wave at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET for the final race of the 2022 Nascar season.
