The Ford E-Transit has proven to be a popular asset for commercial customers around the globe since its launch, as a host of them have placed orders for the award-winning EV van – a list that includes Seur and DPD, to name just a couple, though the E-Transit has also participated in a number of pilot programs designed to prove its worth as well. On the same token, Ford Pro – the automaker’s commercial entity – has rolled out several products to support the E-Transit and its other models, including a full lineup of chargers and end-to-end charging solutions. Now, Ford Pro has announced a new deal with yet another customer – Deutsche Post DHL Group – as it continues to enjoy a stranglehold on the EV van market.
Ford Pro and Deutsche Post DHL Group – the world’s leading logistics company – have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the deployment of electrified vans used for the latter’s worldwide operations. Ford Pro will provide DHL with 2,000 all-electric delivery vans by the end of 2023, which it will use across the globe for last-mile delivery, while the company will also have full access to Ford Pro’s comprehensive suite of connected E-Telematics software and charging solutions. DHL is investing $7 billion euros ($7.4 billion USD) as it aims to achieve net-zero emissions in its operations by 2050 and it also plans to convert 60 percent of its fleet to EVs by 2030. The delivery company has already taken delivery of its first group of Ford E-Transit panel vans as part of this agreement.
“Ford Pro and Deutsche Post DHL Group share the vision of greater sustainability and a commitment to electrified solutions, and this agreement is a major step towards millions of deliveries being completed by electrified vehicles around the world,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “E-Transit is the top-selling commercial EV in North America and since June is also the best-seller in its segment in Europe, meaning the all-electric two-ton van is already making big strides to support this ambition.”
“Electrification of last-mile logistics is a major pillar to decarbonize our operations,” said Anna Spinelli, Chief Procurement Officer and Head of Mobility, Deutsche Post DHL Group. “Adding the new Ford E-Transit to our global fleet of around 27,000 electric vans further strengthens our capability of providing green delivery services worldwide. Joining forces to address our logistics specific requirements will drive operational and service efficiency further.”
