Ford Bronco Lineup Gains Kooks Axle Back Exhaust Systems: Video

Some Ford Bronco owners want to stand out from the crowd, and thanks to myriad aftermarket modifications on the market, this can be as simple as adding an aftermarket exhaust for a more aggressive output sound. MRT recently brought two different aftermarket exhaust systems to the Bronco that maintain decent trail clearance, and Roush entered the fray with its own axle-back exhaust for the 2021 Bronco. Adding a Borla exhaust can also make the SUV sound a little meaner out on the road and on the trail. Now, Kooks has introduced its own set of axle back exhaust system that delivers a more aggressive sound to the off-road SUV.

The Kooks Street Series Axle Back exhaust system is applicable for the 2021+ Ford Bronco that harnesses either Ford’s 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 or 2.7L EcoBoost V6. The first exhaust system, which is tagged with part No. 15016210, is geared more toward the “daily driver” or “weekend warrior” customer, delivering a more aggressive but not overly obnoxious exhaust note. It’s made out of 304 stainless steel, and is easily installable OEM connection points. The system flows down into dual exhaust ports that are finished in matte black for function and style. This system costs $700.41, and can be ordered via the Lethal Performance website.

Additionally, the Kooks Adventure Series axle back exhaust system delivers a snarling exhaust note to the Ford Bronco, but this one is designed with ground clearance in mind. According to its product description, it was engineered to keep all the important bits tucked in behind the rear bumper and features a single exit turndown. This setup allows the exhaust to accommodate steep approach and departure angle without danger of causing damage to the exhaust parts on treacherous trails. It is tagged with part No. 15016100, and can be ordered via Lethal Performance for $717.02.

I wonder if the people who install these systems are the same people complaining about the noise from the MIC hardtop?

It still sounds cheap to me. Get something that sounds deeper and more lope. This is something a teenager would install. Go to your local high school parking lot and you’ll hear all kinds of cars and trucks with similar sounding exhaust systems. 700 bucks? I’ll pass.
