Ford Motor Company sales slipped two percent to 1,864,464 units during the 2022 calendar year in the United States. Sales declined for both the namesake Ford brand and FoMoCo’s luxury marque, Lincoln.
Sales were negatively impacted by ongoing supplier issues and other constraints largely stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the global microchip shortage. While initially optimistic, Ford CEO Jim Farley has since stated that constraints are here to stay for the foreseeable future.
However, last year’s sales figures may not spell all doom and gloom for The Blue Oval. “Much was accomplished in 2022, with Ford increasing its share of the industry by 0.7 percentage points,” said Andrew Frick, Vice President of Ford Sales U.S., in a statement. “Delivering on our strategy, share expansion came from broad-based growth from our SUV lineup and our all-new EVs growing at twice the rate of the overall EV segment,” while adding “With a strong retail order bank, Ford is well positioned heading into 2023.”
