The Ford Authority Take

Unsurprisingly, Ford Transit sales once again dominated the segment. Despite this impressive showing, however, it should be noted that ongoing supplier issues, which include but are certainly not limited to the global microchip shortage, continue to negatively affect the automotive industry. The Blue Oval has had to navigate tough constraints that force it to cut back on production, creating a low-supply scenario of its vehicles. Note that Ford Transit sales slipped 0.36 percent overall in 2022, but that slight dip was pretty mild compared to how most of the industry fared last year.

2023 Ford Transit Trail

It’s also worth noting that sales of the new all-electric E-Transit are adding incremental numbers to the Transit’s already healthy performance. Additionally, Ford will soon expand the Transit range to include the upcoming Transit Trail model, which could bolster its sales. Originally revealed for the European market back in June of 2020, the Transit Trail is a more rugged, off-road focused variant of The Blue Oval’s best-seller that debuted in November.

  1. How come the guy who always posts that Ford should quit making Fords, and become a contract assembler, in every BEV article, never shows up in articles like this one?
