There was a time, not terribly long ago, when virtually every vehicle on the market utilized a prop rod to hold the hood up when one needed to access the engine bay. In recent years, that part has mostly given way to struts that do the heavy lifting for us, as well as hold the hood in a raised position. However, that doesn’t include the sixth-generation Ford Bronco, which still comes equipped with a good old fashioned prop rod. Those that want to ditch that part for a more modern alternative can already purchase a Ford Bronco hood strut kit from Steeda, but now, Ford Performance is also selling that same sort of setup itself.
The new Ford Performance Ford Bronco hood lift kit is sold under part number M-16826-B and fits all 2021-2023 Bronco models – save for the Ford Bronco Raptor and Everglades. The kit comes with a pair of black e-coated progressive-rate gas struts and all the hardware required for installation, including zinc plated steel, black powder coated mounting brackets. Better yet, the kit is installed using existing mounting holes and fasteners, which means that no drilling is required.
Aside from raising the hood up itself and holding it there, the Bronco hood lift system also raises the hood roughly eight inches higher than the stock prop rod, which allows for easier access to the engine bay. It reportedly operates smoothly, slowing down the hood’s ascension near the top to boot.
The 2021-2023 Ford Bronco hood lift kit is available to purchase now, retails for $130, and comes complete with a four-year warranty for a little extra peace of mind, in the event that something goes wrong.

Will this kit fit a Maverick?
No. Look up redline tuning. They have Maverick struts. If you wait maybe there will be a Ford Performance version for more $.
Looks like a rebadged redline tuning kit. I just put on their hood struts last month and they are the best ones I found on the market. If I knew these were coming I would have waited and used FordPass points to get these. Cool stickers +10hp!
Only Ford could charge $60k for a truck and use a prop rod. They should be ashamed of themselves. Lemme guess, they still use the rod antenna too?
Why can’t I buy it yet
