2023 Ford Transit Recalled Over Improperly Welded Fuel Tank

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford Transit models over an issue with improperly welded fuel tanks.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the fuel tank grade vent valve may not be properly welded to the fuel tank shell, which can result in a fuel leak.

The hazards: a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: fuel tank

Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford Transit vehicles produced between November 3rd, 2022, and November 10th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 1,159

The fix: dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin March 27th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S04.
