The Ford Bronco Sport certainly has its fair share of direct and indirect competition in the compact crossover space, a list that includes the recently revealed 2024 Chevy Trax and the refreshed 2024 Chevy Trailblazer, to name just a couple. America’s obsession with these types of vehicles continues to prompt automakers to create new ones and refresh/redesign existing models to stay competitive, and the latest is this – the 2024 Buick Encore GX, which has debuted as an updated Lincoln Corsair rival.
It’s worth pointing out that the 2024 Buick Encore GX is a bit of an indirect rival to the Corsair, given the fact that it’s a subcompact crossover – not a compact model – but those segments do tend to get cross-shopped quite a bit. Regardless, the refreshed Encore GX has been treated to a number of changes worth noting, starting on the outside, where the crossover’s styling features cues inspired by the Wildcat EV concept and other newer products in the luxury brand’s lineup.
Aside from its looks and new 18- and 19-inch wheel options, the 2024 Encore GX also gets a new trim level – the Avenir – which features its own unique styling elements such as the front grille, 19-inch wheels, clear taillights, chrome accents, and black carbon metallic body side molding. Inside the cabin, the Avenir is treated to a 10-way power driver’s seat, leather, a heated steering wheel, and an exclusive-to-the-trim Whisper Beige and Jet Black colorway. Ironically, those seeking a sportier version of the Encore can opt for the ST trim, which adds a host of black styling elements – just like Ford’s own ST models, albeit without any performance upgrades.
Inside the cabin, the 2024 Buick Encore GX gets an 11-inch infotainment screen, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, and a bevy of standard safety tech. Power comes from either GM’s turbocharged 1.2L I-3 LIH engine, which produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, or the optional turbocharged 1.3L I-3 L3T that makes 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available as an option. Front-wheel drive models come equipped with a CVT gearbox, while all-wheel drive crossovers are fitted with GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2024 Encore GX is scheduled to enter production in March, with a launch coming later in the spring, while pricing starts out at $26,895 including destination and delivery charges.

ONE WORD … UGLY
LOOKS LIKE IT IS UNHAPPY
Looks like our schizophrenic friend CHARLES / LANCE still hasn’t been able to find the caps unlock key.
He has been able to change his name faster than Rich Little could change his persona, but poor CHARLES / LANCE only has one persona despite two names.
Corsair has 250 HP. This has less hp than a Ecosport.
Huge improvement from Buick, I like this a lot, especially the interior.
Assembled in China.
guess where the next Nautilus and Lincoln Mach E are going to come from??
Let alone almost anything made
Not really an excuse to be supporting a communist country with a terrible human rights record. Plenty of other vehicles are assembled in the US or at least North America.
Buick is only alive as a mfr because of China though, so it makes some sense we import something we have some semblance of control over before too many others look past the reality of slave labor and treatment and just say dang that’s a nice appliance for not much money, lets get 3 or 4.
I’m not supporting the country, just stating that a lot is actually made there.
Corsair rival? Do they know anything about cars around here?
Hardly a Corsair competitor if the Encore doesn’t have a PHEV model.
With the Escape getting a refresh for 2023, it’s nice to see Buick take over the last model’s shark nose and grille. 😄
Somehow the Wildcat front clip got way watered down and diluted in the translation. Very sedate and uninspiring if you ask me. Lacks the drama of the concept.
A little tiny car, and like every other make of little tiny car, they put in a leg-crowding huge console that serves no purpose whatsoever except as a styling exercise.
This has to be the worst Buick product in 10 years. Uninspiring at all levels, starting with the awful front end.
It’s just ridiculous to compare it to the Corsair…a complete stretch. Why this site wants to give attention to a product that compares in no way to a Ford or Lincoln is the question.
Is it me or the new logo looks like 555. I agree, the concept was bolder than what gets watered down for production regarding the front-end design.
