Aside from remaining a best-seller in America for decades now, the Ford F-150 has long held some international appeal, with a handful of companies even converting the pickup to right-hand drive for select markets. However, The Blue Oval is in the midst of officially launching the Ford F-150 in other parts of the world, including Australia, Europe (starring with German and Sweden), and Brazil, which in the midst of a major lineup overhaul. Consumer interest in the latter country proved to be incredibly strong when the first batch of Ford F-150 pickups became available, too.
A grand total of 500 F-150 pickups were available in the first batch to hit Brazil, and that lot sold out in “record time,” according to the automaker. The first 250 of those units were offered to existing Blue Oval customers and were gone within an hour, while the second half were made available to the general public, lasting just nine minutes before each one was spoken for – which bodes well for the model’s launch there and other parts of the world.
Each of these 500 units was made available through Ford’s brand new e-commerce site, which allows customers to not only reserve their new ride, but also choose their colors, trim, configuration, and preferred delivery location ahead of its launch later this year. Brazilian customers were able to choose from two trims – Lariat and Platinum, which retail for R$470,000 ($90,940 USD) and R$490,000 ($94,810 USD), respectively, through both are equipped exclusively with the Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote engine.
“We knew that the F-150 is a product highly desired by Brazilian consumers and this has been proven by the success of pre-sale,” said Marcel Bueno, Marketing Director of Ford South America. “This volume represents 10 percent of the total large pickup trucks registered in 2022, which is proof of the strength of the product and the confidence in the brand. The pre-sale system worked perfectly. It is part of our proposal to offer a 100 percent digital journey to the customer to meet all their needs in a simple and convenient way, both in sales and in after-sales.”
