The Ford Mustang Mach-E has won more than its fair share of awards tied to owner satisfaction in recent months, including landing a spot on Consumer Reports‘ most satisfying vehicles to own list not just once, but twice. The EV crossover also managed to rank second on J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study behind only the Kia Niro EV and far ahead of the industry average in the mass market all-electric vehicle segment, and now, it has followed that up with a third place ranking in this year’s version of that same study.
This time around, the Mini Cooper Electric topped the mass market EV rankings with a score of 782 out of 1,000, with the Kia EV6 ranking behind it with a score of 762. This two are followed by the Ford Mustang Mach-E (742 points), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (738), Volkswagen ID.4 (735), Kia Niro EV (733), Ford F-150 Lightning (723), Chevrolet Bolt EUV (716), Bolt EV (711), and Nissan Leaf (698), with the segment average coming in at 730 this year.
J.D. Power’s U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study considers 10 factors to come up with these scores – accuracy of stated battery range; availability of public charging stations; battery range; cost of ownership; driving enjoyment; ease of charging at home; interior and exterior styling; safety and technology features; service experience; and vehicle quality and reliability. This year’s study polled 7,073 owners of 2022 and 2023 model-year BEVs and PHEVs, and was fielded from August through December 2022.
According to J.D. Power, EV owner satisfaction scores are shifting to more traditional factors such as quality and styling. “The electric vehicle landscape is changing quickly, and newer models are bringing in more mainstream, first-time EV buyers,” said Brent Gruber, executive director of the EV practice at J.D. Power. “Recent vehicle launches from both new brands and traditional automakers have had a profound effect on what factors are most important in the ownership experience. Today’s EV owners are looking for quality, reliability, driving enjoyment, safety, and technology features.”

Congrats to all who are above the average. Wait, no Tesla on the list at all? They outsell all the others combined in the marketplace. Is that because not one Tesla owner is satisfied? Does that make sense? I am a happy owner of a Ford EV, but to not see any of the highest seller on the list? Unbelievable….
Went to JD Power. The list does not include “premium” brands such as Tesla and Rivian. That tells you something right there. Also, look at the performance of the Lightning.
Torture the statistics and they will tell you anything you want.
Did you really? Took me literally a minute from reading your comment to go to JDP and find this:
“Study Rankings
Rivian R1T ranks highest overall and highest in the premium BEV segment with a score of 794. Tesla Model 3 (759) ranks second.
MINI Cooper Electric ranks highest in the mass market BEV segment with a score of 782. Kia EV6 (762) ranks second and Ford Mustang Mach-E (742) ranks third.”

Try to get parts or insurance for a Tesla or a rivian no dealers or parts Dept or crash parts that is why insurance rates are so high
K-street is now pushing the higher insurance rates angle since about a day or so.
Forecast, sunny with more of this, plus K-street’s continued focus on the illusory BEV zombie fire apocalypse.
Oh my Wacko-Mole K-street pro level unlocked. (This reply was to a comment that moderation has apparently deleted.)
Here we see bad faith trifecta of scripted comments, one old: CR; one new: Lightning BBQ; one blue: apoplectic K-streeters huffing and puffing to pump out their scripted disinfo faster than I can call it out. (Pro-tip, they can’t.)
I would like to support the Ford family and buy an electric Mustang with the wait and not knowing when I could get one I have another electric vehicle to pick up this week.
