The Ford Authority Take

Ford Mustang Mach-E sales gained even more traction in the mainstream dedicated electric vehicle segment during Q4 2022. It’s clear that The Blue Oval managed to navigate around some bottlenecks in Mustang Mach-E production to have achieved its levels of performance during the quarter, increasing its supply in order to answer increasing demand for the EV crossover.

Indeed, the Mustang Mach-E has been named as one of the most considered electrified vehicles on the market. It was also one of the most viewed new vehicles throughout 2022, and tends to attract customers who are brand new to EVs and Ford products, indicating that it is a very attractive electric vehicle among consumers. It was recognized as being the fifth best-selling EV in California, trailing a horde of Tesla-branded vehicles while outselling Chevy’s products in the state.

As supply of the Mustang Mach-E increases, The Blue Oval has been prompted to slash prices of its EV crossover. Even so, certain Mustang Mach-E trim levels are still more expensive than its fierce competitor, the Model Y. Pricing of the Mustang Mach-E will likely remain in flux for a while yet in response to commodity costs, but for now, consumers can enjoy a slightly more palatable price tag attached to the increasingly popular EV crossover.

  1. Been watching as day by day the bad news keeps dribbling out. Not a good quarter for Ford at all. Don’t want to hear more about supply constraints. Clearly GM and Tesla figured a work around. People are not flocking to Ford. Bolt outsells Mach e, Bronco Sport is DOA, in CA Rivian outsells the Lightning. I guess word of the QC problems has gotten around.

    1. QC huh that’s funny when you mention Rivian and Tesla. Tesla sells more because of superior charging stations and they are the leaders. Rivian, as glitchy as they have been, I would say CA likes the more sensible size.

  2. MUSTANG MACH-E California version does not get the rebate. Costs too much. The best version of the Mach-e isn’t on sale. Who thinks dealers will sell at MSRP? In the end Tesla is looking better and better. 53k you get 319 miles of range and dual motors. Nice.

      1. Just comparing numbers to value. At 53K you get an EV. An that goes a big distance more than the Mach-E base that gets the rebate. I love the look of the Mach-E more but 50miles more miles of range with current sparse EV super charging network matters. But hey think what you want. I want GM and Ford to be in this EV race big time. That helps me the consumer to have more things to choose from.

  3. What does it mean when it says “As supply of the Mustang Mach-E increases, The Blue Oval has been prompted to slash prices of its EV crossover”?
My 10 month old order from April 2022 is still not delivered.
    Built in December 2022.
Missed the unrestrictive $7500 tax credit in 2022.
Now in 2023, I have to deal with: income cap, MSRP cap, battery rules (March)…
My MME is still in Mexico rotting away.
If Ford does not get my MME to me by the IRS ruling in March, I am out because of the lack of tax credit.
    I would be giving up:
    $3980 price drop
    $6500 PCO (transitional)
    $2000 Options incentive
    $2000 State rebate
    $1000 Ford Pass VISA points

  4. It’s clear they need to build them faster, in greater quantities. And for those who keep chirping about the Y – it’ a car many would not consider buying at any price, for a number of reasons. Two that immediately come to mind are that Tesla is so cheap they couldn’t even add driver side gauges, and in 2023, they’re using an exterior design that hasn’t changed in 7 years, and was boring even when it was originally released (the 3 is the original release – the Y is a simply a stretched version of that econobox).
