Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Carbon Fiber Wheels Up For Auction

When the all-new S550 generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 debuted for the 2020 model year, it did so with a rather compelling option – the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, which includes a set of carbon fiber wheels. These types of lightweight wheels are all the rage these days – and will soon be an option on the Mustang Dark Horse as well – and in both cases, are produced by a company called Carbon Revolution, for FoMoCo. Problem is, the Carbon Fiber Track Pack cost a whopping $18,500 when it was available, with the individual wheels priced somewhere between $5k-$7k each to replace via Ford. Thus, this set of Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 carbon fiber wheels up for grabs at Bring a Trailer may wind up representing some sort of discount for the lucky buyer.

Being sold with no reserve price, these GT500 carbon fiber wheels measure 20 inches in diameter and 11 inches wide in the front with a 32mm offset, as well as 11.5 inches in the rear with a 48mm offset. The seven-spoke units also feature a 5×114.3 lug pattern, and are real OEM units complete with the factory part numbers and manufacturing information inside each wheel’s inner barrel – including FoMoCo’s part numbers of KR3V-1A145-MC for the fronts and KR3V-1A145-NC for the rear units.

These wheels certainly look terrific, even if they are apparently take-offs, as it’s unclear how much they were used – if at all. Regardless, with seven full days to go in the auction, bidders have already raised the price to $4,000 – though the wheels are being sold with no reserve.

While they look great and are lighter than other wheel options, it is worth noting that the GT500’s Carbon Fiber Track Pack does negatively affect the car’s straight line performance – though that has been attributed to its tires, not the added aero bits. Regardless, for those who are more interested in carving up corners and just plain looking cool, there’s no beating a set of exposed carbon fiber wheels.
