NASCAR Ford Teams Post Mixed Results At Fontana 2023: Video

The NASCAR Ford teams experienced an eventful race at Auto Club Speedway on February 26th, 2023. Things started strong for The Blue Oval in Stage 1, but a series of incidents took out a few of its racers, though some of them rebounded and secured decent finishes, all things considered.

Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 Ford Mustang, emerged as a strong force in the beginning of the race, leading quite a few laps before being involved in a multicar wreck on Lap 86. He finished 26th, four laps off the pace. Meanwhile, Brad Keselowski’s No. 6 Mustang went for a neat spin off the nose of the No. 7 Chevy Camaro ZL1 of Corey Lajoie early in the race, but thanks to the resilient bodies of the Next Gen cars, Keselowski was able to salvage a sixth-place finish, all said and done.

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 NASCAR Ford, quietly finished fifth, managing to avoid incident, while Joey Logano’s No. 22 Mustang came home 10th. All said and done, however, the day belonged to Chevrolet, as Kyle Busch’s No. 8 Camaro took home the trophy.

As a reminder, Sunday’s racing events marked the finale of Auto Club Speedway as a two-mile oval asphalt. Much of its property has been sold off already, and there are unconfirmed plans in the works to configure it into a half-mile short track, although NASCAR recently stated that it is evaluating market interest in the area. As such, the future of NASCAR’s presence in Fontana is unclear.

  1. The reality is the Fords did not have the speed to win with. The Chevy’s did.
