2023 Ford Maverick Recalled Over Inoperative Trailer Lights

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford Maverick models over an issue with inoperative trailer lights.

The defect: in affected vehicles, a missing electrical circuit may cause the trailer taillights to not illuminate as intended when utilizing the vehicle trailer tow electrical connector. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

The hazards: trailer taillights that do not illuminate as intended can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: engine bay wiring harness

Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford Maverick models produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant from November 23rd, 2022, to February 10th, 2023.

Number of vehicles affected: 2,716

The fix: dealers will add an electrical circuit to the engine bay wiring harness, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on March 27th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23C04.

Why wouldnt Ford allow buyers that have this issue sign a form that they wont pull a trailer, rather than people cancelling there order, after waiting for over a year to get their truck only to have it sit on the lot for months waiting for parts.I finally convinced my brothers to buy Ford trucks and the one has been on the lot for over two months waiting for this fix. Hes very frustrated, and will probaly cancel his oredr and go back to to a GM if he dosent get it next week. Shame on Ford for not addressing this issue with more info. Im a long time ford customer, frustrated on bringing new customers only to have this issue.
