Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford Maverick models over an issue with inoperative trailer lights.
The defect: in affected vehicles, a missing electrical circuit may cause the trailer taillights to not illuminate as intended when utilizing the vehicle trailer tow electrical connector. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
The hazards:Â trailer taillights that do not illuminate as intended can increase the risk of a crash.
Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components:Â engine bay wiring harness
Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford Maverick models produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant from November 23rd, 2022, to February 10th, 2023.
Number of vehicles affected: 2,716
The fix:Â dealers will add an electrical circuit to the engine bay wiring harness, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on March 27th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23C04.
