Ford BlueOval Battery Park Michigan Gets Additional Funding

Following an exhaustive search, FoMoCo announced the location of its newest EV battery plant – Ford BlueOval Battery Park Michigan – just a couple of weeks ago. The plant will produce lithium-iron phosphate batteries for future all-electric vehicles when it comes online in 2026 in Marshall, Michigan, and that process is already well underway following a recent land transfer to the city itself and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union officially looking to organize its employees. As Ford Authority reported last week, lawmakers in Michigan are requesting $750 million in funding for the site, and now, Ford BlueOval Battery Park is in line to receive even more state funds, according to the Detroit Free Press.

That funding is slated to come from House Bill 4016, a supplemental spending bill that was passed by the Senate this week. The bill aims to secure $1.3 billion in total funding, with $630 million of that sum going to the BlueOval Battery Park Michigan site in the form of incentives and development costs. The bill now moves on to the House, which will ultimately decide if it will pass or fail.

While it has enjoyed strong support thus far, House Bill 4016 does have its fair share of critics, who have expressed concerns over the amount of funds that are being allocated not only to Ford in its quest to build this new plant, but also other large corporations aiming to build or expand EV production facilities in Michigan. “Everybody wants to see good jobs created in Michigan but throwing endless amounts of taxpayer dollars at enormous companies is not the answer,” said Senator Jon Bumstead.

In addition to this political opposition, some local residents in Marshall have also expressed their own concerns over the plant’s potential environmental impact, as well as on the small town itself.

Ok Senator, so what is the answer?

This article and its discussion reflect the usual political dribble of our times.
It is demoralizing though. One has to wonder how anything good ever gets done in this country with so much pessimism.
China and other competing nations have only to sit back and watch the wheels fall off US industry because of it.
    Ford needs some wins….

    Baloney.
By Ford’s calculations EV’s are the new future, in less than 20 years. During this fantastical ramp up their profits ought to dramatically rise each year. They can pay their own way.
Or, do you use other people’s money, that you don’t have to repay, on a gamble that you know may not pay off?

So, how much stock have you bought to take advantage of this sure thing?

But the reality is that it’s called tech incubation.

In the 1930’s, FDR over the howls of the GOP, introduced the rural electrification act (along with the TVA and other big hydro dam projects).

These both set the stage for economic recovery out of the depression, industrial might during WW2, and the post war economic boom.

But if he had listened to Grover Norquist social wedge comments like this none of those 3 things could have happened.

If Michigan did not pony up the money, other states and countries would.

How many CCP spies will be included in workforce Ford is assembling for the Party in Michigan and Michigan taxpayers are indirectly paying?

Oh, come on, you know it’s all of them.

We all know that because Farley is a communist, and Ford belongs to the CCP. It must be true because I read it here in a comments section.

      Wait, What?

Except these spies are actually delivering the intellectual property and production know how that the US doesn’t have. Worst spies ever.
