Ford Ranger Plant In Argentina Gets $80 Million Investment

Roughly one year ago, the Ford Pacheco Assembly plant in Argentina began exporting the Ford Ranger for the very first time, adding the Latin American countries of the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Guatemala to a list that already includes Brazil, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Venezuela. At the same time, Ford has been investing heavily in the Pacheco plant and retooling it in an effort to ramp up next-generation Ford Ranger production after building a whopping one million pickups over the past 27 years. Now, as the new Ford Ranger Raptor prepares to launch in Argentina this coming May, the plant that builds it for that part of the world is getting another investment.

Ford will investing another $80 million into the Pacheco plant, an announcement it made following a meeting between Daniel Justo, president of Ford South America, Martin Galdeano, president of Ford Argentina, and Sergio Massa, Argentina’s Minister of Economy. This time around, much of that money will go toward the production of Ford Ranger engines starting in 2024, and it boosts the automaker’s overall investment in the Pacheco plant to $660 million – solely for the next-gen Ranger.

“The decision to continue investing in Argentina is very important for Ford, and is aligned with our goal of offering the latest global technology to consumers in South America,” Justo said. “The continuous improvement of our products and competitiveness are key to the sustainability of Ford’s business in the region. This new investment demonstrates Ford’s commitment to the country.”

“One of our objectives is to achieve the widest possible local integration in a competitive and efficient way,” Galdeano added. “This new investment was also possible thanks to the professionalism and commitment of each of the Ford workers. They are carrying out the largest transformation process in the history of Planta Pacheco.”
