Marcos Ambrose To Drive Ford Mustang In Bathurst 6 Hour 2023

From Australian Supercars to NASCAR, Australian race car driver Marcos Ambrose has enjoyed all walks of motorsports. In fact, he will soon step back behind the wheel, joining George Miedecke and Tim Brook in a Ford Mustang race car for the Bathurst 6 Hour on April 9th, 2023.

The Ford Mustang piloted by Miedecke, Brook and Ambrose will compete in Class A2 for the endurance event alongside five other Mustang race cars. Ambrose competed in the same car and class in 2022, but unfortunately had to park his Mustang after a myriad of mechanical issues that could not be resolved, and he’s looking to turn his luck around in 2023.

“I am looking forward to finishing this story of the GRM Mustang that we built for the Miedeckes,” Ambrose said in a press release, referencing the fact that his Ford Mustang racer is fielded by Andrew Miedecke Ford and Miedeck Auto Group. He added, “It was supposed to run last year but we had issues with the transmission and the car just wasn’t ready. They have been working on it in Queensland for a while, been testing and it’s ready to go. We’ll have a shakedown at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday [March 28th].”

In addition to competing in the Bathurst 6 Hour, Ambrose will join the broadcast team for the rest of the weekend’s events, serving as commentator on Stan Sport and Nine Network, which will provide 18 hours of live coverage of the event throughout Easter weekend.

“It’s great to be part of the race and the broadcast team this year,” Ambrose said. “It feels old school to me, private teams, working on their cars all year for the one big race. There’s lots of speed difference between the cars, different configurations and 6 hours is the perfect length for the race.”
