The Ford Authority Take

With accessories for off-road-focused vehicles like the Ford Bronco in higher demand than ever before, The Blue Oval has obliged by adding a large number of them to its own catalog. However, it isn’t done doing precisely that by a long shot, as the automaker has also filed patents for a host of potential future Bronco accessories in recent months, including one for redundant controls that could allow owners to operate the vehicle when they aren’t in the driver’s seat, a deployable trail sight, an advanced handle assembly, a handle assembly with an inductive charger, a roof chair system, a handle assembly with a display, and an integrated sand ladder.

Now, this newly filed patent introduces ideas for a number of new accessories that appear to be designed specifically for the Ford Bronco, some of which look familiar, while others are brand new. That list includes a grab handle with a video screen, mounting point for other accessories, a light, a spot lamp, and a proximity sensor, along with a different style of tube doors and additional external lighting, all of which seem pretty normal.

But then there are some bizarre ones as well, including furniture, such as a bed and table, both of which could be covered to protect owners and their friends from the elements. Additionally, all of these accessories could also utilize their own light sources or other electrically-powered devices, to boot.

These are certainly interesting ideas, though some of these potential Ford Bronco accessories seem far more viable than others. Regardless, this patent filing makes it quite clear that FoMoCo isn’t done innovating and making new parts for its rugged SUV, so long as people keep buying them en masse, of course.
