The S197 generation Ford Mustang may not be terribly old by most people’s standards, but that hasn’t stopped a few shining examples of that particular pony car from attracting considerable interest at auction. In recent months, that list includes a stellar 1,200-mile 2005 GT, as well as a very nice 2008 Roush Speedster. Now, we have yet another stellar example to add to that list, as this 40k-mile 2005 Ford Mustang GT just hit the virtual auction block at Bring a Trailer.
Better yet, this 2005 Ford Mustang GT remained in the possession of its original owner until just last month, at which point it was purchased by the selling dealer. As a result, it’s in stellar, like-new condition, with shiny and attractive Windveil Blue Metallic covering its flanks, along with a set of classic five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels wrapped with 235/55 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires.
The same goes for the sublime gray interior, which is also in like-new condition with leather seats and plenty of amenities including a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a split-folding rear seat, air conditioning, and an aftermarket Pioneer touchscreen stereo that replaces the original head unit – the only modification present on this pristine pony car.
Pop the hood, and we’re treated to a familiar sight from this particular era in Blue Oval history – the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, which is rated to produce 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque in this particular guise. That power flows to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission for what promises to be solid performance, even by today’s lofty standards.
It may not exactly be old, rare, or highly collectible, but this pristine 2005 Ford Mustang GT is certainly one of the nicest S197s we’ve seen in some time, and for those that want to buy one and hold onto it with an eye toward the future, we think that it’s a solid find for certain.

This year and color was always one of my favorite combinations. So classic. Ford needs to offer more colors like this.
