The Blue Oval has closed order banks for a number of 2023 model year vehicles in the past few months, largely due to ongoing supply constraints. That list includes the Transit Connect in both variants, the Ford Mustang Mach-E EV crossover, Ford Edge crossover, and the Ford F-150 pickup, along with certain variants of the Lincoln Navigator, too. Now, order banks for the Navigator’s platform-mate – the 2023 Ford Expedition – are also set to close very soon, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority.
This change applies only to retail order banks for the 2023 Ford Expedition, which are set to close on April 12th, 2023 at 10pm EST. Dealers will then have until April 19th, 2023 at 10pm EST to complete the Customer Order Verification Process (COVP). It’s worth noting that Ford doesn’t intend to provide these customers with any sort of model year transition offer if their SUV is not produced in the 2023 model year, and those customers will instead need to place a new order for a 2024 model if that is the case. Dealers will be able to modify existing retail orders after order banks have closed, though body and pep codes cannot be modified.
Though 2023 Ford Expedition retail order banks will close next week, that isn’t the case with dealer stock orders, which dealers will be able to place for the remainder of the 2023 model year. There’s no guarantee those orders will be built, however, and the typical commodity constraints still apply.
As Ford Authority reported yesterday, the vast majority – more than 70 percent – of 2022 Expedition sales went to retail customers, while less than 30 percent were purchased by commercial customers. This was actually a bit less than some other Blue Oval models – including the Ford F-150, Ford F-150 Lightning, and and Ford Maverick, all of which had a roughly 80/20 percent retail/commercial mix.
We’ll have more on the Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and continuous Ford news coverage.
