Ford Escape Flattens C4 Corvette After Garage Crash

We’ve certainly seen our fair share of car crashes over the years, many of which leave us cringing – whether that be because they caused serious injuries, or because those wrecks destroyed special, rare, or just plain cool vehicles. However, most of these automotive accidents occur out on public roads or race tracks, which is precisely what one would expect. But that wasn’t the case in the town of Murphy in Jefferson County, Missouri, recently when a Ford Escape driver smashed into someone’s garage, crushing the C4 Corvette that was parked inside, according to KMOV4 News.

Perhaps making matters worse, the Ford Escape driver also reportedly owns the house – and, presumably, the Corvette inside – which just doubles the agony of this particular incident. However, the driver apparently wasn’t under the influence of alcohol or drugs, though the real cause of the crash hasn’t yet been determined. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, it’s “believed something happened with the accelerator to cause the crash,” though it’s unclear what that might be.

Whatever the reason, the aftermath of this event is quite gnarly – the Ford Escape can be seen sitting directly on top of the poor Corvette, which undoubtedly caused its fair share of damage to both vehicles. It’s unclear just how badly the sports car wound up taking this punishment, but we imagine that its fiberglass body didn’t fare well under the weight of the crossover.

Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries as a result of this incident, as things could have gone much worse. However, the garage door is smashed to pieces, while the house it was attached to likely suffered some sort of damage as well. If this was simply a case of the driver mistaking the gas for the brake, we imagine that it won’t go over well with her insurance company, but at this point, that seems to be the assumption most have regarding the accident.
