Ford Expedition Among KBB’s Best Family Cars Of 2023

The Ford Expedition has earned plenty of accolades in recent months, a list that includes being named a better buy than the Chevy Tahoe, a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award in both 2022 and 2023, and a spot on KBB’s Best Family Cars list in 2021 and 2022. Now, we can call that latter accomplishment a three-peat, as the Ford Expedition has once again secured a place on the Kelley Blue Book Best Family Cars list for 2023.

The Ford Expedition once again made the cut as one of the best new vehicle options for families seeking a three-row SUV. “For families who want comfort, convenience and maximum capability, the Ford Expedition checks all the boxes,” KBB noted of its selection. “If you’re looking for one vehicle that can haul the whole family and lots of cargo while towing a boat without breaking a sweat, the Ford Expedition could be the rig for you. The Expedition has just about everything you could ask for in a big SUV, like a massive interior with available 3-row seating, two size options, a powerful engine, and the latest tech features. It even gets decent gas mileage for an SUV this size.”

To come up with the best family vehicles out there, KBB looks at a variety of factors, including its own testing, with a main focus on safety, value, reliability, durability, driving experience, comfort and convenience. This year’s list contains both two- and three-row models.

“When it comes to a family car, it’s crucial to carefully consider things like safety and tech features, seating, and cargo capacity, the ease with which you can install a child safety seat, and more to meet the ever-changing needs of a growing family,” said Brian Moody, executive editor for Kelley Blue Book. “The Kelley Blue Book team diligently evaluates the latest vehicles in the market, prioritizing safety and reliability while providing comprehensive information to empower new-car shoppers with options that cater to varying lifestyles.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

Not surprised at all. We have a 2017 EL Limited and it has been damn good. A terrific highway cruiser. Would like to entertain buying a newer one but the price has gotten out of hand for these.

The Expedition MAX is our family wagon, and we have been very happy with it for all the reasons cited above. We got a ’19 fully loaded XLT FX4 new for $57k. Glad we did because, as Mr. Munn mentions, the prices are now crazy.
