Ford Heritage Vault Expands, Adds More International Content

The Ford Heritage Vault – a massive online database of historic photos and vehicle brochures – debuted last June, and has only grown in popularity since then after users initially overwhelmed the site with traffic, causing it to crash. Back in February, the site crossed the one million search mark, and just a month later, reached 1.3 million searches with more than 300k documents being downloaded since its inception. Ford has also been adding more content from other countries to the Heritage Vault, and that continues with the recent addition of thousands of photos and brochures from 15 countries including Canada, Australia, and Germany.

Ford Heritage Vault International Expansion

To date, visitors from more than 175 different countries have visited the Ford Heritage Vault, cementing its global appeal, which is precisely why The Blue Oval continues to add historical content to it. Now averaging 5,000 downloads a day, the site has added yet another 2,400 images and brochures to its expansive database of content, bringing its total up to more than 12,000, as of this writing.

That content covers a pretty wide spectrum of Blue Oval history, including documents pertaining to Ford, Lincoln, Edsel, and Mercury product lines dating all the way back to 1903. With the addition of even more Ford history, traffic only figures to continue to grow, particularly among those that are now able to access documents from their own country of origin.

The popularity of Ford’s recent addition of UK-based historical documents also prompted the company to launch a new Heritage and Innovation center in the UK, which is located at the Daventry Parts Distribution Center site. The collection contains a wide array of historically important Blue Oval vehicles, including cars and commercial models, as well as important milestone vehicles and race cars.
