Ford Maverick XL Hybrid Wins 2023 Best Fleet Value Award

Easily one of the hottest new(er) vehicles on the market, the Ford Maverick has remained in short supply and high demand since its launch, though the compact pickup has also earned its fair share of accolades from critics, too. Those include a spot on Car and Driver‘s 2023 10Best list, a Kelley Blue Book 2023 Best Resale Value Award and Best Buy honors, and a 2022 Best Fleet Value in America Award from Vincentric. Now, the Ford Maverick has repeated that latter feat, as the XL Hybrid version of the pickup has earned a 2023 Best Fleet Value in America Award from Vincentric, too.

The Ford Maverick XL Hybrid achieved the top ranking in the small pickup category thanks to the fact that it won 21 out of 28 measured lifecycle cost scenarios, outperformed 55 competitor trims, and recorded the lowest maintenance and operating costs in its class.

To determine the winners of the 2023 Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards, the company performed a cost of ownership analysis measuring over 2,000 vehicle configurations based on typical fleet use. It accomplished this by using eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs, while each vehicle was evaluated in all 50 states plus Washington D.C. using 28 different lifecycle scenarios. Winners were then identified by determining which had the lowest fleet lifecycle cost in the most scenarios within its segment.

“The Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards provide guidance to fleet professionals by identifying vehicles that will bring proven value to their fleets,” said Vincentric President, David Wurster. “Managing costs is a critical part of fleet management, and our awards give valuable insight into which vehicles offer the lowest lifecycle costs in their segments.”

  1. It is a myth that the Maverick is a good value. Dealers rarely have one to sell, and when they do, they (the Dealer) will add a “premium” of $10,000 to the price. Ironic that the appeal of the Maverick is its “low price”, yet there are fools out there that will pay anything for it. I have given up looking for the Maverick.

    1. Steve, I totally agree with you. The Maverick is not a bargain. Dealers jacking up the price by as much as $15,000 has taken that selling point out of the equation. I looked for over a year and finally bought a used Lariat AWD. Yes paid 3K over MSRP, I’d never even paid MSRP before. Upside was I got MSRP for my trade.

    2. Steve, the correct way to get the good price is to order one. If you order one, the dealer you assign the order to cannot charge over MSRP. I ordered one of these depicted in the story (XL with virtually no addons) and my price is around $26K with destination charges included. I also ordered a F250 Lariat Super Crew that I took delivery of 2 weeks ago and paid $65K…now try finding one of those at that price…the key is ordering your own.
