Ford Motor Company sales increased 10 percent to 475,906 units during first quarter of 2023 in the United States. Sales increased at the Ford brand, while decreasing at Lincoln.
“Ford is off to a fast start to the year. Ford’s sales growth and investments are a direct result of strong customer demand across our truck, SUV, and electric vehicle segments,” said Vice President, Ford Sales U.S. and Canada, Andrew Frick. “And this year’s highly anticipated new product launches with Super Duty, Escape, Mustang and Ranger, will only add to this momentum,” he added.
FoMoCo Sales Notes – U.S. Q1Â 2023
- Total Ford Motor Company sales during first quarter of 2023 increased 10.1 percent to 475,906 units
- Truck sales increased 19.6 percent to 254,023 units
- SUV sales increased 0.7 percent to 207,142 units
- Car sales increased 5.1 percent to 14,741 units
- Electric vehicle sales totaled 10,866 units, up 41 percent year to year
- Ford is America’s best-selling brand in Q1 with total vehicle sales of 456,972, on the strength of icons like F-Series, Bronco and Mustang, commercial vehicles and EVs
- Ford is America’s best-selling truck and van manufacturer as sales increased 19.6 percent, outselling GM’s combined truck and van
- F-Series is America’s best-selling truck with sales up 21.1 percent totaling 170,377 pickups – outpacing Silverado by 46,000 trucks; however, GM sold more units of the Silverado and Sierra combined
- F-150 Lightning order banks re-opened for reservation holders as the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center returned to full production
- Sales of the all-new, 2023 Super Duty began at the end of the first quarter and will continue to expand into Q2
- Ford Explorer is the best-selling, three-row midsize utility
- Ford Expedition sales doubled

Ford sales increased 10.65 percent to 456,972 units:
- Ford Bronco sales increased 37.57 percent to 32,430 units
- Ford Bronco Sport sales increased 2.69 percent to 29,871 units
- Ford E-Series sales increased 49.77 percent to 10,785 units
- Ford EcoSport sales decreased 80.43 percent to 1,649 units
- Ford Edge sales decreased 23.21 percent to 20,282 units
- Ford Escape sales decreased 47.08 percent to 21,149 units
- Ford Expedition sales increased 99.21 percent to 19,359 units
- Ford Explorer sales increased 35.86 percent to 58,061 units
- Ford F-Series sales increased 21.09 percent to 170,377 units
- Ford F-150 Lightning sales totaled 4,291 trucks, taking the lead in the segment during the quarter
- Ford GT sales decreased 16.67 percent to 30 units
- Ford Heavy Trucks sales increased 36.75 percent to 4,045 units
- Ford Maverick sales increased 11.6 percent to 21,478 units
- Ford Mustang sales increased 5.18 percent to 14,711 units
- Ford Mustang Mach-E sales decreased 19.71 percent to 5,407 units
- Ford Ranger sales decreased 34.8 percent to 11,500 units
- Ford Transit sales increased 86.01 percent to 32,015 units
- E-Transit sales totaled 1,168 units
- Ford Transit Connect sales decreased 48.04 percent to 3,823 units
Lincoln sales decreased 1.1 percent to 18,934 units:
- Lincoln Aviator sales increased 5.42 percent to 5,236 units
- Lincoln Corsair sales decreased 42.07 percent to 4,023 units
- Lincoln Nautilus sales increased 8.17 percent to 5,505 units
- Lincoln Navigator sales increased 94.13 percent to 4,170 units
