Late last month, a former student of The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee entered the building and wound up shooting and killing six people – three adults and three children – in a horrific attack that has left the local community reeling. Much ado has been made about the killer and this tragedy in general, but recently, a Ford NASCAR team that participated in a Cup Series race in Tennessee decided to do something positive by raising funds for the victim’s families, according to WSMV News.
This was made possible by the online marketplace Public Square, which teamed up with with GiveSendGo.com and the Ford NASCAR team Rick Ware Racing for this fundraising event. During this past Sunday’s race in Bristol, the number 15 Ford Mustang racer was equipped with a custom wrap sporting “Pray For Covenant” script adorning its flanks, along with the link givesendgo.com/covenant, which is where those interested in helping out can donate to this important cause.
Together, these three entities have set a goal of raising $50,000 for the Nashville shooting victims’ families, of which $24,425 has already been contributed by generous donors, as of this writing. All of the proceeds collected from this effort will go directly to those families, as GiveSendGo.com is covering all associated fees, and each donation is 100 percent tax deductible as well.
“We are always saddened to hear of tragic events like the shooting in Nashville, but we are thankful we are able to provide a platform for our people to share hope in devastating circumstances. Our prayers are with each family impacted and the community surrounding this school,” said Jacob Wells and Heather Wilson, co-founders of GiveSendGo.com.
