The Ford Ranger has been sold in a number of global markets over its existence, proving to be an incredibly popular option for those seeking a capable pickup in many parts of the world. This is precisely why the all-new, next-generation Ford Ranger debuted in other places prior to its upcoming launch in North America, which is set to take place later this year for the 2024 model year. Now, the Ford Ranger is heading to yet another country – China – a development that the automaker reveled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
The Ranger will be joining the Ford Bronco and Ford F-150 Raptor in the Chinese market, though both of those pickups are built in the U.S. and exported to that country. That will not be the case with the Ranger, however, as FoMoCo will be manufacturing the mid-size pickup in China for that particular market, and will also offer it with its own unique array of accessories – tailored to Chinese customers – when it launches.
Over the past few months, the all-new Ford Ranger has launched in additional parts of the world such as Argentina and Europe, the latter of which just added the Wildtrak X and Tremor to its already expansive lineup featuring a number of variants. With demand for the mid-sizer proving to be strong across the globe, Ford recently invested $80 million in the Pacheco Assembly plant in Argentina to boost production – a facility that exports the Ranger to a host of Latin American countries.
“The Chinese market holds strategic significance for Ford,” said Sam Wu, president and CEO of Ford China. “At the show, this must-have Ford showcase offers features that bring to life the brand’s strengths to create products and experiences that resonate with Chinese customers.”
