Rain got the better of the Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway on April 14th, 2023, forcing the race to be canceled after 124 of a scheduled 200 laps. While the NASCAR Ford truck racers showed strength and led quite a few laps during the green-flag portions, they just weren’t there at the end when the race was actually called.
Things kicked off with the No. 38 NASCAR Ford F-150 of Zane Smith on the pole, leading five laps before the No. 51 Chevy Silverado RST of Kyle Busch took control, leading 37 laps throughout the night.
Rain stalled the field twice during the shortened event. A multicar wreck brought out the final caution, which ultimately ended the race as the skies opened anew. Smith’s No. 38 NASCAR Ford F-150 was scored third when it was finally called, followed by the No. 98 F-150 of Ty Majeski in fourth. Ben Rhodes, driver of the No. 99 F-150, earned a sixth-place finishing position as well. Overall, it was a decent night for The Blue Oval.
The No. 11 Toyota Tundra race truck of Corey Heim was scored the leader when the final flag waved, and was thus granted the win.
It’s worth noting that the No. 98 NASCAR Ford of Majeski maintains the point lead over the No. 38 F-150 of Smith by 26 points.
