No. 38 NASCAR Ford F-150 Wrecks On Last Lap At Texas 2023: Video

Zane Smith, driver of the No. 38 NASCAR Ford F-150 in the Truck Series, almost nabbed his second consecutive victory in the 2023 season at Texas Motor Speedway on April 1st, 2023, but found himself wrecked on the last lap as the No. 42 Chevy Silverado RST of Carson Hocevar cruised by to take the victory.

Smith’s No. 38 F-150 race truck challenged the No. 2 Silverado of Nick Sanchez along with the No. 42 of Hocevar heading into the white flag lap. Sanchez’s No. 2 Silverado contacted Smith’s No. 38 F-150; Sanchez”s No. 2 Silverado was then struck by the No. 42 of Hocevar and spun him across the track and wrecking into Smith’s No. 38 NASCAR Ford. Both race trucks were taken out of contention while Hocevar and the No. 42 Chevy shot across the finish line in first.

Smith’s No. 38 NASCAR Ford was ultimately scored 14th, while Sanchez’s No. 2 Silverado finished 13th.

Sanchez explained his view of the wreck. “Obviously coming to the last lap, me and the 38 [Zane Smith] were playing an aggressive side-drafting game and I got a little too aggressive on him, got loose, went through the grass and saved it,” he said. “Just got hit by the 42 [Hocevar]. I don’t know what else to say about that. It is what it is, that’s racing.”

I’ve been a Ford fellow Brother since my 1st 1997 special order x-cab Ranger in 1996. I read the story: “it is what it is, that’s racing”? B.S.! It’s EGO’s hands down. Also: tires were to slick, Not changed enough (according to Hollywood movies). Chevrolet ego’s & Ford ego’s have been battling since the mid 1960’s! But to do it on a NASCAR regulation Track?! Stupid!

Ford Powered by Chevy…..unreal Ford is racing in pickups…with a GM engine…Ford makes a sealed racing engine…and should have leveaged Nascar to let them use it…..the engine is heart of a racing vechicle….and using a GM….is worse advertising Ford could get…
