The 2002 Lincoln Blackwood exists as an interesting footnote in Blue Oval history, a one-year-only luxury pickup that launched and promptly failed – though in all fairness, it was far ahead of its time, as today, buyers scoop up luxurious pickups with big price tags in rather rapid fashion. Ultimately, FoMoCo built just 3,356 units of the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood, but we’ve seen several of them hit the auction block in recent years, including a heavily-modified example, a pristine pickup with 7k original miles, a 44k-mile example, and a well-kept Blackwood with just under 100k miles. Now, we have yet another one to add to that growing list – this pristine Blackwood up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, which has a very low 30k miles showing on the odometer.
This particular 2002 Lincoln Blackwood has spent its life living in both Michigan and Texas, but clearly hasn’t been driven much over the past 20+ years. Like all Blackwoods, it’s finished in black with aluminum pinstripes and a wenge wood appliqué on the bed, along with a sunroof, heated side mirrors, a little bit of brightwork, a power-operated tonneau cover, a dual-door tailgate, and 18-inch aluminum wheels, which in this case are wrapped with 275/55 Michelin Cross Terrain tires.
Riding on an air suspension, the Blackwood has plenty of comfort to offer its owners, with a cabin featuring black leather climate-controlled power-adjustable front bucket seats, wood trim, automatic climate control, navigation, a Ford-Alpine Audiophile stereo system with a six-disc CD changer, and a steering wheel adorned with both leather and wood.
All Blackwoods are powered by the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.4L V8, which in this guise produces 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. With a clean, accident-free history and low miles, this particular Blackwood has a lot to offer its new owner, and likely at a big discount versus its original MSRP.
