Though it isn’t quite as common a sight as some more popular collectible models, the Mercury Capri is no stranger to online auctions, with a few fine examples – such as a nicely-kept Australian convertible and another done up in Toy Story livery – surfacing for sale in recent years. Now, we have yet another to add to that list – this 1993 Mercury Capri convertible, which is also in excellent condition and is up for grabs right now via an online auction taking place over at Bring a Trailer.
Prior to its acquisition by the seller earlier this year, this 1993 Mercury Capri convertible remained in the possession of one family since it was sold new, and has just 44k miles showing on the odometer. Finished in Dark Charcoal Metallic, there aren’t too many flaws to note here, as the exterior of this sporty drop top is in very nice condition, and it still remains in mostly OEM spec with the original 14-inch wheels to boot.
The same goes for the interior, which is finished in gray leather with amenities including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, manually-adjustable seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a digital clock, and power windows, while an aftermarket Audiovox AM/FM/cassette stereo replaces the factory head unit.
Power for this small convertible comes from the naturally-aspirated 1.6L B6D I-4 engine featuring four valves per cylinder and dual overhead cam construction, which was originally rated produce 100 horsepower and 95 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox. In great shape with a clean bill of health and plenty of documented maintenance, this 1993 Mercury Capri convertible certainly isn’t something we see very often, and it’ll be interesting to see what it ultimately sells for.

And the bidding is up to $1,000? Somebody is going to get a cheap but cool ride.
Still looks amazing after 30 years! I almost bought one back in the day but ended up trading my ’86 X 1/9 for a VW Scirocco 16V with manual transmission of course.
