In recent years, we’ve seen more and more Ford sedans underpinned by the famous Panther platform pop up for auction, a list that includes a 13k-mile 1998 Ford Crown Victoria, as well as a pair of nicely-kept 2004 Mercury Marauders – one of which is finished in a rather rare hue. Now, that list continues to grow with the addition of this stellar 2003 Mercury Marauder, which has a mere 4,900 miles on the clock and is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.
As one might imagine from that low mileage total, this 2003 Mercury Marauder is in absolutely sublime condition, with perfect Silver Birch paint – quite the departure from the black hue that most are used to seeing on these high-performance sedans. Part of this can be attributed to the fact that the car remained in the possession of the original owner until they passed away, at which point the seller acquired it earlier this year.
FoMoCo produced just 11,000 Marauders over two model years, and today, they’ve coveted collectibles. The main draw here is the car’s naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, originally rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential with 3.55 gears.
The Marauder also came equipped with the Performance Handling Package and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dual-piston front calipers, as well as 18-inch wheels, which in this case are wrapped with 235/50 front and 245/55 rear BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS tires. Throw in an immaculate Light Flint Nudo interior, and you’ve got what is easily one of the nicest Marauders on the planet, if not the very best.
We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure to subscribe to Ford Authority for more Mercury Marauder news and continuous Ford news coverage.

Wow, interesting. I didn’t know FoMoCo offered the Merc in any other color than black. That is pretty cool. Nice car!!
I am the lucky owner of a 2000 Wedgewood Blue Mercury Grand Marquis with light gray leather interior. Inherited from my mother -in -law 20 years ago, now with 83,000 miles. Love car, the ride the handling, the size, the styling, the gas mileage, the trunk is humongous. It’s in very good condition, I keep at it detailing it myself. I get comments and offers all the time, but not for sale.
If Ford built a modern version that closely resembled most of the styling and not going off the deep with something gaudy, I believe it would be a winner. A full size, high technology sedan. With a twin turbo V6 and 8 or 10 speed transmission, wow
There’s nothing wrong with the 4 speed with over drive in it now, very smooth. Part of the luxurious ride.
I have a 1969 Mercury Marauder. Original miles of 29,000. Runs like a charm. What’s it worth today?
