Since its launch, a large number of fleet/commercial customers have placed orders for Ford F-150 Lightning pickups, all with an eye toward reducing emissions and operating costs. That list includes entities such as Sunrun, Fluid Truck, the U.S. Forest Service, Southern California Edison (SCE), SafeHaven Pest Control, and Zeeba Automotive Group, to name just a few. Now, we have another company to add to that fast-growing list as well – Vestas, a provider of sustainable energy solutions.
This particular relationship seems like the perfect match, given the fact that Vestas already specializes in clean energy and helps maintain and operate nearly 15,000 turbines across the U.S. As such, the company also needs a reliable fleet to transport technicians from site to site, along with their tools – many of which are located in remote areas.
For those tasks, the Ford F-150 Lightning made perfect sense, and as such, Vestas will soon integrate 300 EV pickups into its fleet, along with a host of Ford Pro chargers to support that transition – many of which are located not only at the company’s own properties, but also remote work locations. It also helps the company on its mission to become carbon neutral with no carbon offsets by 2030, as the Lightning will soon make up around 20 percent of its 1,850 vehicle fleet.
“Vestas is on an ambitious sustainability journey, and we need to collaborate with like-minded leaders across the various sectors of our supply chain to reach our bold targets,” said Michael Kraft, Vestas Fleet Manager in North America. “With Ford being one of those leaders here in the U.S., incorporating the F-150 Lightnings into our service fleet was a good fit for us.”
