As one part of the best-selling pickup lineup in America, the Ford Super Duty enjoys tremendous aftermarket support these days, as owners can choose from massive catalogs full of parts and accessories for their pickups. However, The Blue Oval also offers its own wide array of Ford Super Duty parts via its own catalog, including everything from windshield banners to winch hook kits and pretty much anything else one can imagine. Now, that selection has expanded yet again, this time to include an all-new 12-bolt differential cover.
This new Ford Super Duty heavy-duty 12-bolt differential cover is sold in the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-4033-SD12 and retails for $215. This new piece fits single-rear-wheel 2011-2022 Super Duty pickups with 10.5″ Ford axles and 12-bolt differential covers, and comes with all the required hardware and a gasket for installation, as well as a magnetic drain plug that makes it easy to change out fluids.
Ford’s Super Duty 12-bolt differential cover is also tougher than the stock unit thanks to its heavy-duty nodular iron construction, and it’s powder-coated for superior corrosion resistance. Aside from offering an upgrade in terms of durability, the new piece is also quite nice looking and features a Ford Performance logo in the center – a bit upgrade from the boring, plain old stock piece.
While many think of differential covers as a purely cosmetic piece, units such as this one make it easier to change out fluids, tend to dissipate heat better, and protect gears from contaminants like dirt and water, as well as rocks and other obstacles when off-roading. For a reasonable price of a couple hundred bucks, that seems like a pretty good trade-off in our book.
