When the sixth-generation Ford Bronco debuted for the 2021 model year, we were also promised a pretty cool feature called – at that time – the FordPass Performance app, which was supposed to offer owners a number of useful tools, including access to thousands of pre-loaded off-road trail maps. Some time has passed since then, and we were still waiting for that feature to arrive following multiple delays, though FoMoCo did previously say that it would launch at some point in 2023. Just last month, a newly filed patent previewed what this offering might look like, and now, Ford has officially launched what it now calls the Bronco Trail App.
The Bronco Trail App – which is available for both Apple iOS and Google Android devices – was officially revealed today at the Bronco Safari 2023 in Utah, which is the perfect venue given the fact that the app features some of the trails that owners are traversing at this particular event. In total, the app contains around 1,200 off-road trail maps that have been professionally curated, which – for now – are limited to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
After downloading the app, users gain the ability to do all sorts of things aside from simply gaining access to around 18,000 miles of curated trail maps, which can be filtered by location, difficult, and length. Users can also check out points of interest, scenic lookouts, and photo-ops, as well as save their own, and access both 2D topographical maps and satellite images, all of which can be downloaded and accessed offline.
If all of that isn’t cool enough, the Bronco Trail App also contains a real-time tire pressure gauge to adjust based on recommendations for each particular trail, the ability to bookmark and record one’s favorite trails, and capture video that can be viewed via the app or through a connection in center console with overlay data like speed, RPM, distance traveled, elevation, and more, all of which can be shared via text, social media, or on online forums. The Bronco Trail App is free, and it’s available to download now in both the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
We’ll have more on the Bronco Trail App soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Bronco news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
