Kelley Blue Book recently released its Q1 2023 Brand Watch report, and thus far, we’ve seen quite a few positive developments for The Blue Oval in general. Ford saw its brand consideration grow by one percent quarter-over-quarter, while the Ford Escape Hybrid reentered the top ten list of the most considered electrified models following a prolonged absence, and the Ford Maverick continued its long run on that same list. That also rings true for the Ford F-150, which ranked as the second most considered non-luxury vehicle in Q1 2023, and its F-Series counterpart – the Ford Super Duty – which came in fifth place. Those vehicles were joined by the Ford Explorer as well, as the long-running crossover managed to rank as the ninth most considered vehicle last quarter, too.
The Ford Explorer finished ninth on this list thanks to a surge in interest from consumers, which grew by 16 percent quarter-over-quarter as the crossover marked its return to this most considered vehicles lineup following an extended absence. However, it wasn’t alone in terms of crossovers and SUVs, as the Explorer was joined by the Dodge Durango and Honda CR-V on a list dominated by those types of vehicles, as well as pickup trucks.
While the top five most-shopped vehicles in Q1 were trucks, SUVs/crossovers remained a hot entity with 66 percent of non-luxury shoppers considering one of the two. Traditional passenger cars, on the other hand, continue to slide, with 32 percent of those same shoppers considering that segment, down from 37 percent a year ago and 36 percent last quarter.
The Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch report is a consumer perception survey that also weaves in shopping behavior to determine how a brand or model stacks up with its segment competitors on a dozen factors key to a consumer’s buying decision. Kelley Blue Book produces the quarter Brand Watch reports for non-luxury and luxury brands and assesses shopping for electrified vehicles. The methodology includes surveying both mobile and desktop users instead of only desktop users.
