Several Blue Oval models have been recognized in recent years for providing owners with hundreds of thousands of reliable miles, including the Ford Expedition and the Ford Super Duty, which in at least one case has exceeded the one-million mile mark. The latter model – or more specifically, the Ford F-350 Super Duty – was recently recognized by iSeeCars as one of the most likely vehicles on the road that’ll last beyond the 250k mile mark, and now, it’s been joined by the Ford F-250 Super Duty on that same list.
While the F-350 Super Duty topped iSeeCars’ annual list of the vehicles that are most likely to make it to 250k miles, the Ford F-250 Super Duty ranked behind it in fifth place with a 43.6 percent chance of hitting this particular milestone. That’s 3.7 times better than the average vehicle, which only has an 11.8 percent chance of making it to the quarter-million mile mark. And, of the top 23 vehicles that made the cut, nearly half of them – 10 – were pickup trucks.
“It’s not surprising to see so many trucks, including heavy duty trucks, on this list,” said iSeeCars.com Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Trucks like the Ford F-Series Super Duty are work vehicles, often purchased by businesses to serve as a key resource driving a company’s success.”
To come up with this list, iSeeCars analyzed over 260 million vehicles sold between 2012 and 2022 to determine which are most likely to survive to the quarter-million mile point. The average odometer reading for every vehicle was calculated at each yearly age, and a proprietary model based on these average mileages was developed to estimate the probability that each vehicle would survive to various thresholds. Ultimately, this latest study found that the average lifespan of vehicles in general is getting longer as time goes by.
“Vehicle lifespans continue to grow, with more than 20 cars now having a 20 percent or better chance of lasting at least a quarter million miles,” Brauer said. “For most of the automobile’s history, 100,000 miles was considered the maximum usable lifespan. Over the past 30 years we’ve watched an increasing number of cars reach 200,000-plus miles, and for our tenth Longest-Lasting Cars Study we’ve expanded our analysis to predict which vehicles have the greatest likelihood of reaching 250,000 miles or more.”

I mean since 90 percent of superduty owners make them daily mall crawlers pulling hefty ghost trailers they’re bound to be “reliable”
