Ford Maverick Among Most Considered Electrified Cars Q1 2023

The Ford Maverick – particularly the hybrid version – has been a red hot entity on the new vehicle market since its launch, which isn’t a huge surprise given its low price tag and economy car-like fuel economy. Attracting owners of those types of vehicles at a high rate, the Maverick has remained a mainstay on the Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch report’s list of the most considered electrified vehicles for some time now – including in Q4 2021, Q2 2022Q3 2022, and Q4 2022. Interest in the Ford Maverick Hybrid hasn’t waned one bit in the past few months either, as the compact pickup has once again landed on KBB”s list of the most considered electrified vehicles, this time in Q1 2023 – joining the Ford Escape in that regard.

The Ford Maverick Hybrid landed on this top 10 list in the fourth spot this time around, with its consideration among shoppers growing by a whopping 32 percent between Q4 2022 and Q1 2023. The only models that fared better than the compact pickup were the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Overall, the latest KBB Brand Watch report found that while EVs continue to make headway in the market, shoppers still have a strong interest in hybrids. In total, 27 percent of all new vehicle shoppers considered an electrified vehicle in the last quarter – 18 percent shopped for a hybrid or PHEV, while nine percent considered an all-electric vehicle.

This list is one component of KBB’s Q1 2023 Brand Watch report, which is a consumer perception survey that also weaves in shopping behavior to determine how a brand or model stacks up with its segment competitors on a dozen factors key to a consumer’s buying decision. Kelley Blue Book produces the quarterly Brand Watch reports for non-luxury and luxury brands and assesses shopping for electrified vehicles – full EVs, hybrids, and alternative fuel vehicles.

Too bad Ford can’t seem to deliver this vehicle to those who have ordered them. I am still waiting for my 2023 Maverick and with the delays so far I am not sure it will even be delivered this year!

I have a question about the 2023 Ford Maverick that I ordered last September. If Ford knows that they have more orders than they can fulfill, then why don’t they convert the unscheduled orders to 2024’s on July 17? They could keep the order bank closed for new orders, until they schedule all the outstanding orders. Does that make sense or am I missing something?
