Illuminated Ford Mustang Sign Up For Auction

Over the past few months, we’ve seen a number of cool Blue Oval-themed illuminated signs pop up for auction, including a very nice, vintage Cosworth RS piece and a good old fashioned Ford logo done up in the more modern script, too. Now, we’ve come across yet another piece that would look great in one’s garage or automotive-themed room – this illuminated Ford Mustang sign that was just listed for sale at Bring a Trailer.

This particular Ford Mustang sign is an oldie but a goodie as well, showing off one of the automaker’s pony car-themed marketing efforts from the 1960s. Featuring both the Mustang and Ford logos, the sign features a white background framed by a blue border. The translucent front panel has one fluorescent tube and 120-volt circuitry behind it, which lights the sign up with the flip of a toggle switch, while a metal frame holds the whole thing together.

Unlike our previously-spotted vintage-style Ford signs, this one doesn’t have a mounting hole in the back to hang it with – rather, there are two chains included that handle that particular task. Measuring in at 38 inches wide by 12 inches tall and 3.5 inches deep, the Ford Mustang sign weighs roughly 10 pounds and was originally made by by Dualite Inc. in Williamsburg, Ohio.

For anyone that appreciates pony cars or the history behind them, this sign is certainly a bit of a throwback, proudly showing off one of the automaker’s marketing campaigns from the first-generation of the Mustang. Aside from the Mustang script and familiar tri-bar logo, the bottom reads “Ford…has a better idea,” which goes along quite nicely with the fact that it lights up with the flip of a switch, we’d say.
