Over the years, automotive wheels have simply gotten larger and larger, with 20+ inch units becoming more the norm than the exception these days, even on new vehicles coming straight from the factory. For the 2024 model year, General Motors is taking this trend to the next level by offering 24-inch wheels on its refreshed full-size SUV lineup – including the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade – as well as the forthcoming Silverado EV. Now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the Ford Expedition lineup will follow suit.
A set of 24-inch wheels will be added to the Ford Expedition lineup, though additional details surrounding this change are scant at the moment, as it’s unclear when the big SUV will be available with those massive rollers. However, this addition is expected to happen in the near future, possibly with the launch of the refreshed 2025 model. Currently, the largest wheel one can get on the Ford Expedition measures 22 inches, a size that’s standard on the King Ranch and optional on the Platinum and Limited trims.
Ford Authority spotted a refreshed 2025 Ford Expedition prototype for the first time earlier this month, which was covered in heavy camo, but clearly sporting a handful of changes compared to the current model, which just received a refresh for the 2022 model year. Those changes include a new front clip, potentially a new hood, a new liftgate and taillight design, and a relocated rear wiper, which should be accompanied by some interior updates.
Earlier this week, Ford Authority also spotted a 2025 Ford Expedition Timberline prototype out and about, sporting some familiar features such as a higher ride height and a wheel design that’s similar to the current model. However, this prototype was wearing a set of General Grabber tires, rather than the Goodyear Wrangler Territory rubber that comes on the current Expedition Timberline.
We’ll have more on the Ford Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.

24″ wheels has to mean the ride is compromised. more wheel means less tire. the cost of the wheels are so very high too. my buddy has a 2020 Escalade with 22″ wheels, and it rides like crap compare to our 20″ wheels on Expedition
At least have the option to have 18″ wheels for all trims. Some people still use there’re expefition as a wagon from the 80’s – you know go fishing, camping in the backcountry. These 22s and the 24s there talking about are terrible for anything other than perfect asphalt
FoMoCo. is hoping many buyers would choose this expensive option in order to defray the costs of past, present, and future recalls.
