The 2024 Ford Explorer will be revealed some time this year, although questions about what the refreshed model will bring to the table are slowly being answered. As Ford Authority exclusively detailed, the refresh will bring the North American model in line with its Chinese counterpart, but hew its own aesthetic path. However, we still don’t know everything about its tech or trim lineup. Fortunately, a source has explained that at least one upgrade is in the cards: a standard infotainment touchscreen that is notably larger than the current unit.
According to the source, the 2024 Ford Explorer will come standard with a center touchscreen that is notably larger than the 8-inch Sync 3 screen that is currently utilized throughout most of the lineup. That lines up with what our photographers have already captured: a landscape-oriented screen that appears to be about 10.1 inches or larger, roughly in line with the standard setup on the 2023 Lincoln Aviator. Our source also says that the upcoming screen is absolutely a key part of the less expensive trims in the model range, which may indicate that another, larger touchscreen may be available on higher end models. Either way, it’s likely that all 2024 Ford Explorer models will have Sync 4 or a system developed by Google, which has been working with Ford on a new system for several years.
A substantial interior refresh on the technology front would make the 2024 Ford Explorer more attractive to three row SUV shoppers who are already spoiled by a plethora of extremely competitive offerings like the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. Aside from the standard eight-inch unit, the current Explorer also features a 10.1-inch portrait-oriented Sync 3 system that is optional on Limited, King Ranch, ST, and Platinum. The refreshed Explorer will likely arrive at dealers in late 2023 or early 2024.

Big annual auto show in Detroit in mid September. Any chance the 2024 Explorer will
be displayed there?
I actually prefer the 13.2″ screen on the Ford escape. I don’t know why Ford loves this wide black edge screen on large vehicles, it looks like a product of 10 years ago.
