The upcoming 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor will be refreshed like the rest of the lineup, with some substantial changes in the works from what we’ve been able to glean from examples spotted testing over the past several months. As Ford Authority previously reported, the upcoming freshening will update the pickup’s infotainment lineup, with a new vertically-oriented screen making its way into the gasoline models for the first time. New 22-inch wheels are expected to debut as well, and a multifunction tailgate may even be in the works too. Recently, we got a look at a Raptor R without any camo, which all but confirmed that the pickup will boast a redesigned grille for the Raptor lineup. Now photographers have shared with us some up close and personal pics of the new front end, with some bonus rear end shots to boot.
Unlike the photos of that Raptor R without camo, these photos feature high resolution shots of the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor front end, where we can really get a taste for what’s in store for the pickup. Obviously, the new front end gets some pretty significant alterations, not the least of which is the new grille. There is very clearly an attempt to visually connect the headlights with the grille, as the headlamps feature two broad sections bisected by a new signature lighting element. That lighting cuts directly into the grille and connects the head lamp assemblies to the FORD script, which itself has been slightly altered with some lines along the edge of the lettering, presumably to make it stand out a bit more. There are also less “chain links” around that script than before, and the signature lighting that flanks the head lamps is no longer continuous, and appears to switch to white LED from its previous amber color. Additionally, the lower grille has ditched its chain link motif entirely for a simpler design. It should be noted that the lower grille on the Raptor R was clearly different than the one featured here, so the refresh may seek to further differentiate the “regular” Raptor with its more powerful sibling for 2024. It should be noted that this is clearly a test model for the Chinese-market variant, given the roof-mounted clearance lights, so the North American version may look slightly different than what’s depicted here.
Out back, more changes are afoot, as the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor rear taillamps get some big changes, as does the rear bumper. It appears the rear lighting will ditch the C-clamp visual motif for something more akin to a lowercase r, and it’s not terribly dissimilar from the rear lamps on the current F-150 Lightning. With its lights off, it is unclear how much of the rear assemblies are devoted to actual illumination, be it braking, reverse, or low beam operation, but it is apparent that less real estate is clear or white while the redesigned assemblies feature more red-colored sections. Down below, the rear bumper has gained reflective strips above the tailpipes. Finally, it looks like this particular pickup has been nicknamed “Lobster Cage,” judging by the sticker on the rear glass, which is not a practice that surprises us at this point.
As for other changes, it is not clear if any substantial changes are in store for the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor or the entire lineup more broadly, but Ford Blue President Kumar Galhotra did outright say that the upcoming model will boast fewer parts than the current version, a potential hint that the range will be simplified in terms of powertrains but also optional packages. The refreshed pickup should debut later this year and arrive at dealers by 2024.
