2025 Ford Expedition Will Feature Redesigned Taillights

As Ford Authority has reported over the past several months, the 2025 Ford Expedition is set to receive a refresh, and thus far, we’ve spotted a number of prototypes out testing, giving us a look at the SUV’s upcoming exterior and interior changes, including a new set of rather large 24-inch wheels and perhaps an entirely new screen setup, as well as the return of the off-road-focused Timberline trim. This is also true of the big SUV’s platform mate – the Lincoln Navigator, which Ford Authority just spied in prototype form for the first time earlier this week. Now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the 2024 Ford Expedition will feature redesigned taillights, too.

To date, the 2025 Ford Expedition prototypes spied driving around have had their taillights covered up for the most part, concealing any potential changes in that area. However, it seems as if there are some big differences underneath those coverings when compared to the current model.

For starters, the taillights on the 2024 Ford Expedition are seemingly moving away from the current C-clamp design and have a more vertically-oriented layout, and the reverse light has been relocated directly beneath the brake light from its current location inside the housing. Depending on the side the taillight is located on, the “J” or “L” shape is flanking both, however.

Perhaps the biggest change present in the taillights on the 2025 Expedition involves how the lighting elements now rise above the beltline and the D-pillar somewhat, while the lights also don’t extend into the sides of the big SUV as much as they do on the current model.

Aside from this and the aforementioned changes, the 2025 Ford Expedition figures to receive some relatively minor updates at the front and rear of the exterior, such as a relocated third brake light and revised headlights and/or front grille. Bigger things may be in store inside the cabin, however, as a recently-spied prototype featured heavy camo covering the steering wheel, the entire dash, and the infotainment screen.

Here’s hoping they redo those headlamps too! I can’t imagine spending almost 100k and getting reflector LED’s.
